RV Importing to Canada Guidelines
- Compliance with Canadian Safety Standards
Ensure that the RV complies with Canadian safety standards, which may include modifications for certain vehicles. - Obtain Necessary Documentation
Title: Ensure that the title is clear and in your name.
Bill of Sale: Required for proof of purchase. - Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
Ensure the VIN is present and matches on all documents. - Customs Documentation
You will need to declare the RV at the border using the following Memorandum D19-12-1: Importing Vehicles into Canada guidelines D19-12-1. - Payment of Duties and Taxes
Duties and taxes may be applicable upon importation. Be prepared for this payment. - Insurance
You must have valid insurance for the RV that meets Canadian requirements before you can register it. - Inspection
The RV may be subject to an inspection by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) upon arrival.
