The 2020 RV Boom bought two new single axle travel trailers to the Airstream brand, the now infamous Bambi and Caravel. All are lightweight, with the beautiful Airstream aluminum shell look, and can be towed by a variety of vehicles. Here’s a quick guide to these lovely little travel trailers.

Both Caravel and Bambi are available in the same four floor plans: 16RB, 19CB, 20FB, and 22FB. Each floor plan has a heated underbelly, torsion suspension systems, and a temperature reducing one-piece white aluminum roof. With the same floor plans available, the main difference between Bambi and Caravel lie in the exterior details.

Bambi, No Bumper

Caravel, Rear Polished Bumper

Caravel’s extra bumper creates just a little more exterior storage room, usually used for equipment such as hoses and tools.

Bambi 3M Protective Film

Caravel Stainless Steel Front Stone Guard

The difference between the respective front guards is that Bambi's film protects from scrapes and scratches, while Caravel’s stone guards protect from rock damage and road debris. Both have the classic Airstream darkened window look that protects glass from road debris and shades the interior of the RV for extra privacy.

Stabilization and hitches also differ, with Bambi having manual stabilizer jacks and a manual hitch, while Caravel has HD stabilizer jacks and a powered hitch, plus a manual crank if ever needed and a small light for hitching at night.

The entry stairs differ only slightly.

 Caravel Pinstripe Tempotest Fabric

Caravel also features unseen shock absorbers with the torsion suspension, while the difference in tail lights and window style are easier to spot.
