The Mothership has finally opened.

After a year of construction and excitement, the Airstream Heritage Center at the company’s headquarters in Jackson Center, Ohio is finally open to the public. Its powerful nickname, The Mothership, comes from some of the most devout travelers in the RV industry: Airstream owners.

The Heritage Center is open Monday through Friday, 9am - 4pm excluding holidays, and sells tickets for admission at $5.

Per their website, “Located inside Airstream HQ in Jackson Center, Ohio, the Airstream Heritage Center brings Airstream’s rich history to life in a museum space that highlights over 90 years of globetrotting adventures and cutting edge innovation while celebrating the thousands of associates who have helped build these “dreams come true” since 1931.”

Some highlights featured in the museum include the 1938 Airstream Clipper, nicknamed Grandad, one of the first Airstreams ever, which features a wooden interior and gnarly 1930’s style wallpaper.

One of the rarest Airstreams ever, the 1948 Wee Wind, is on display with all original parts intact. Built 16 feet long, the Wee Wind was loosely inspired by Airstream founder Wally Byam’s various aviation jobs during World War II.

Perhaps Airstream’s most famous experiment, the Astrovan, a modified Airstream excella motorhome used to quarantine 1960’s astronauts returning to Earth during the fear of space born pathogens, will be on display.

Other exhibits in the museum smoothly feature all 90 years of Airstream’s iconic history, and the Heritage Center is conveniently located near Airstream’s factory tours
